The Snæfellsjökull is actually named Snæfell, but since there are two other mountains nearby with the same name, people started calling it Snæfellsjökull. And yes, in 1864 auther Jules Verne immortalized the glacier by making it the starting point for the book Journey to the Center of the Earth. Which is a very good read.
